So many of the common mistakes investors make can be traced back to one mindset: Trying to get rich in a hurry. Avoid the risk-taking moves inspired by that mentality and you'll be a lot further ahead.

Concentrated investing is essentially a bet on a series of coin flips. Even when the odds are consistently in your favour all it takes is one wrong flip to blow up.

An odds-based investing approach is great, provided the person placing the bet has a good feel of the odds. Unfortunately, this almost never happens. A 50/50 chance is really 90/10. Or 80/20. The presenter has no idea. If you get the odds wrong, this mentality is useless.

So many investors underestimate the power of very reasonable returns (say 8-10%) over the long-term. Every $10k that earns 8% per year turns into $100k after 30 years. You don't need to swing for the fences to get rich. You simply need consistency and to avoid big mistakes. https://t.co/CvZzk0QL8P

Writing down your investment thesis (even if it’s just a few lines in a word doc somewhere) is an excellent way to get better when buying. Auditing your sell decisions is also a way to get better when selling. Both are ways to hold yourself accountable. That’s the real key.
