If a company doesn't have a decent investor relations part of their website, I'll quickly move on from it as a potential investment. That strategy alone sends a pretty big message about how they feel about minority shareholders.

One huge reason why so many financial advisors poke holes in a dividend-focused retirement plan is such a plan removes the need for many of their services. They naturally cannot stand this.

Granite REIT $GRT.un has increased its distribution by 57% since its 2013 IPO. It did so while improving its payout ratio, which fell from 71% a decade ago to 63% today. Not bad. Not bad at all.

I'm impressed with the efforts of $POW.to, $GWO.to, and $IGM.to on the investor relations side. 5 years ago they didn't care about investor relations at all. Now all 3 do a nice job communicating targets and outlining plans to get there. They're little things, but they matter.

Your periodic reminder that there are no bonus points for difficulty in the world of investing. I accomplish this by keeping ideas simple and avoiding parlay investments, ideas where x then y then z need to happen in order for it to work out.
