Turning Wine Lovers into Wine Experts 💃 🍷 Host of 300+ Tasting Events 🍇 2500+ Students Taught Follow me for wine tips, tastings, and more!

10 months agoHOW TO SURVIVE LIKE A PRO? Let’s get straight to the point – one of the biggest motivators for learning and self-improvement is the desire to stand out (trust me, I’ve been at this for ages – boom, and here I am, still at it – double trouble!) Back in the day, I dived deep into the wine world to highlight my uniqueness. Picture this – everyone’s drinking cocktails, rum with juice, or beer, and there I am, sipping wine (DRY wine, mind you!!! 😂), and always talking about it. Today, wine culture is evolving so fast that just saying, “I drink dry red,” won’t make you unique – it might just suggest you haven’t tried anything sweeter than a carrot and think all wines taste the same. Now, flaunting exclusivity means being associated with the unattainable, the elite, something beyond the reach of the average person. Most importantly – it’s something money alone can’t buy. Take the Hermes Birkin, for example – an iconic bag that’s chased worldwide. You can’t just walk into a boutique and buy it. Years-long waitlists, strict quotas, and all that jazz. The resale prices in the photo? 2.5-5 million for a second-hand bag! But does owning a Birkin make you unique? Just step into any upscale restaurant on a Saturday night to see it doesn’t. The same goes for wine – walking into a restaurant and asking for “the best, my favorite, luxurious champagne – Moët” won’t set you apart. But starting a conversation with the sommelier about how you avoid mainstream champagne and prefer Récoltant houses – now that’s a different level. Champagne enthusiasts are intellectuals; it’s a classy hobby that speaks volumes about you! What could be cooler? Personally visiting those little-known or completely inaccessible wineries, often closed to tourists. That’s why we occasionally gather groups and head to these hidden gems. Follow me, hit the notifications, and join the adventure ❤️

10 months agoINHALE, EXHALE… AND HERE WE GO AGAIN, PLAYING THE GAME CALLED “WINE SMELLS LIKE WINE.” Sound familiar? Oh yeah, it does! I started exactly from this point once upon a time. If you think sommeliers and other wine experts were born with a perfect understanding of wine, analyzing acidity and residual sugar from day one, you’re imagining things 😏. All those scents of wet asphalt after rain, mushroomy pine forest, barnyards, and other whimsical notes – it’s just a SKILL that both I and all my colleagues learned. I won’t lie, about 30% of our students, when they start learning, feel something like this: smells like wine, okay, maybe grape juice from a box too 😂. But after a couple of months, it turns into sniffing rose petals in granny’s garden, the pillow in a fancy hotel, oyster shells, and other hedonistic delights! 🔥 Want to do the same? Here are a few life hacks to develop the ability to sense something beyond just the scent of wine: 🥦🍒🥩 Aromas in wine aren’t just wine aromas. They’re polyphenolic compounds, and our brain recognizes these as familiar scents. We don’t think “oh, the aroma of terpenes” – we think it smells like roses, lilies, and honeysuckle. 🤯 Ask yourself: “smells LIKE WHAT?” If you keep answering “like wine,” eventually an association will pop up. 🥸 Smell everything! Creating associations is crucial. Practice shows that to identify specific aromas like “quince” in Burgundy, you need to know how quince smells. Sniff all available fruits and vegetables – you’ll be genuinely surprised! 🍷🍷 Compare! We always sense sharper in contrast! That’s why tastings work so well – with at least two wines, one will always stand out more. Follow me, hit the notifications, and start your journey of discovering the intricate world of wine aromas with me! ❤️

An indescribable journey through chocolates. The finest cacaos paired with unique & exclusive spirits.

10 months agoPERU 🇵🇪 The first stop on the hunt of delicious & unique cacao flavors! Case and his team strive to connect with the people who work the soil, harvest the fruit, and create the magic that is chocolate. Spending time on their farms and hearing their stories helps us to honor not only the fruit itself, but the people who lovingly care for it. #houstoneats #houstonfood #chocolatier

2 months agoForget falling in love…I’d rather fall in chocolate 📍 @case.chocolates might’ve just turned me into a chocolate person. I love when Houston gets unique experiences and this one just made its way to my top 5 list. Not only is this speakeasy giving grown and sexy it’s giving luxury! This isn’t your average speakeasy this one comes with a cocktail and liquid filled chocolate pairing. @case.chocolates has been open for a little while now but they just launched a new menu. During your time here you’ll experience a 3 course pairing. The first 2 courses you get to choose your cocktail and you’ll be given a chocolate that pairs with that cocktail. I chose the Pan De Muertos for my first cocktail. It’s a repo tequila based cocktail with fresh peaches and lime. I thought this was going to be my favorite but the Pear and Cardamom Sidecar really won me over. It’s not secret I love a good tequila but if I’m drinking cognac I’d prefer a sidecar. Everything in this drink was well balanced. The chocolates that paired with each course were amazing and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t eat chocolate! I know you’re looking for a way to impress that special person or a place for your next girls night make sure you add @case.chocolates to the list! #casechocolate #eaterhouston #houstonbucketlist #yelphouston #mysecrethouston #secrethouston #stufftodoinhouston #houbucketlist #houstonhiddengems #houstondateideas #thingstodoinhouston #visithouston #wherewefinnaeatt #houstoninfluencer #houstoncontentcreator

Yo no he firmado el comunicado.

4 months agoMy friend (and friend to many) Eric Raymond Gilliland passed away Sunday. He was kind. And gentle. And funny as hell. And incapable of holding a conversation that was cruel or tore someone down. It’s a tragedy he’s gone and a tragedy more people won’t have the chance to know him. I had Eric as a friend for 27 years. He was the first bigtime meeting I had at the start of my career. He’d finished working as a writer on ROSEANNE and had a swank bungalow office on the Fox lot in LA. I was nervous as hell to meet him. I’d gotten into my cups the night before and the hangover wasn’t helping. My head was pounding like crazy, but it was my stomach that worried me… I had those horrible little tell-tale burps. Badness was brewing. Eric wasn’t how I imagined a seriously successful comedy writer. He was so approachable. When he smiled, his nostrils flared and his eyelids lowered by half. Imagine Pixar, but Pixar is Eric’s face. It felt like I’d known him forever. And there are hundreds, if not thousands of bartenders, cashiers and shopkeepers in dozens of countries who feel the same. I traveled all over the world with Eric. He introduced me to Vaudeville and Jack Benny and welcomed me into his friend circle of impossibly talented writers and performers. He was my university. He helped me grow and find my voice. And he did all of it while finding himself. Eric never stopped becoming Eric. He eventually moved to NYC and found a new gear. He walked everywhere. He had Swedish Glug parties. He appreciated old, forgotten things. He loved soup. Jesus Christ, the man loved soup. Go to his twitter account for proof. When I walked out of that meeting at Fox all those years ago, I was hit with the undeniable urge to see him again. As soon as I’d finished violently throwing up in the rose bush outside his office, I popped back in and gave him my phone number. I also let him know I’d recently thrown up in the rose bush outside his office. This news seemed to please him. The rose bush died but Eric lived 27 more years.

5 months agoNearly a decade of getting to do this. 10 years ago, we would have gleefully taken these BONKERS 2nd weekend numbers as our opening weekend. The way #DeadpoolAndWolverine has captured the moment is hard to process. Feels a bit like it’s happening to someone else. Either way, making these movies has been more fun than anyone has a right to have. I can’t help but skip down memory lane a bit. There are way too many people who’ve made pivotal creative contributions to list, but obviously my long time co-writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (without whom there would be no Deadpool movie) Tim Miller, Mr David Leitch (who also made Fall Guy — one of the best of the summer films), 20th Century Fox, George Dewey and Kevin Feige. Last on the list but first in my heart: my creative, spiritual (and damn near literal) brothers, Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman. This has always been a game of inches and the relentlessness we hit this movie with (particularly in post production which is another phase of the writing process) is something I’ll never forget. Thank you to every single person who showed up for this film. Thank you to everyone seeing it multiple times, making friends with new characters and tipping our hats to some familiar faces we love from the past. What a damn thrill this has been. ❤️⚔️❤️
