We are t-minus 4 weeks (on Sunday) from doing the Men’s Pairs AG 40-49 in London, and I don’t think I’ve been fitter or faster in decades!!!
Am I as strong or as lean as I’ve ever been… HELL NO… but, if you want to clock a good time and be competitive at Hyrox, you have to be able to run and run fast (especially if you are bigger like myself and @tommaccormick)…
So my training over the last 2months (& for the last 4 weeks) has been running 4x a week: 1x long, slow 70min+, 1x slow recovery & stride session, 1x high intensity anaerobic threshold session and 1x Hyrox sim-style compromised running session! I’ve also been doing 3x weights sessions to help keep my size and strength up…
It’s been a really interesting journey and just goes to prove that you do get better at what you practice: today we ran 8x 1km (outside) all between 3.15-3.30/km with 90seconds recovery between!
