3 months agoAfter much conversation about rabbits, I’m taking a moment to address some of your questions such as what do rabbits taste like, the best recipes, and most importantly, why I raise them. For me, raising rabbits is about being in control of my own resources, something no one else can influence. If this resonates with you, comment ‘rabbit’ below. I’ve put together a brief overview of things to consider when raising rabbits, based on my experience and research. Remember, how we receive information may differ, but together as a community, we can learn and grow. 🐇 #RabbitRaising #HomesteadingLife #SustainableLiving #BackyardLivestock #MeatRabbits #SmallSpaceFarming

3 months agoMany people have asked how we dispatch rabbits on our farm. Here’s a quick video where I talk about the three methods I’m most familiar with and have personally used: 1. Cervical Dislocation (Broomstick Method) - This involves placing a stick or broom handle across the back of the rabbit’s neck and pulling the hind legs upward to dislocate the spine quickly. 2. .22 Rifle - A quick, precise shot to the head for an instant and humane dispatch. 3. Blunt Force Trauma - A swift, forceful strike to the head that renders the rabbit unconscious or kills it instantly. It’s important to me that we approach this process both ethically and humanely. Raising rabbits and other livestock for food is a serious responsibility, and part of that is ensuring that the animals are dispatched in the most respectful and humane way possible. This isn’t just about producing food; it’s about embracing the entire process of being self-sufficient on a small farm. Taking on the burden of taking life is never easy, but it’s a necessary part of living a self-sufficient lifestyle. By doing it ourselves, we ensure that it’s done with care, respect, and understanding of the gravity of the process. I hope this video helps clarify these methods. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a DM, and we will get into it. #RabbitRaising #HomesteadingLife #SustainableLiving #BackyardLivestock #MeatRabbits #SmallSpaceFarming
