One of the hardest things in databases is turning a single-node system into a distributed system. But my sense is most database vendors can’t stay single-node for the long run (given scale and given even a version upgrade would require downtime?). Correct me if I’m wrong!

Just wanted to follow up and say that @VividSeats handled this great - I got a phone call from them 5 minutes after my post and had replacement tickets in my inbox about 15 minutes later. We made it to the show on time and ended up sitting 5 rows from the stage. Happy family!

Just read “Why Github Won” by @chacon. A few personal takeaways: 1. Tailwinds matter in developer tools. Github had the rise of open-source. We see this often: Firebase had the shift to mobile; Datadog had the shift to cloud. 2. Git was really different and better.
