2 months agoPRI x Warm-up Playing around with incorporating PRI into a basketball warm up. The diaphragm and ribcage wrap around the whole body but we tend to focus on the front aspect only: mouth breather, belly breather, etc. This drill focuses on the posterior ribcage with a light weight to encourage true expansion of the back vs compensation. From here, you can go into specific tendon, neuromuscular exercises.
3 months agoMachine Learning in Basketball 🏀 We hear the term ML quite a bit in sports science without a lot of explanation behind it. How does ML actually have an impact in the weight room or in rehab? One example is to reduce large samples of variables. For example, with external load, I crates buckets of where overall load comes from. My question: what activities contribute most to stress? Technique: multiple linear regression; multicollinearity assessed with a correlation plot. Normality assessed with QQ plots. Regression reduced until only significant variables remained (0.05 used) 🔑 As practitioners we can make better recommendations as to what takes up the most load and inputs the most stress. We can structure and undulate training on and off the court. Hit me if you want the answer to what I found.
