5 months agoToday, we officially embark on a journey to celebrate African culture like never before...
Since 1967, Rolling Stone has been an amplifier of groundbreaking artists, embracing cultural trailblazers across the US, Europe, and now: Africa 🌍✨
Gracing our inaugural cover is none other than Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. A revolutionary force whose music and spirit continue to resonate across generations, Fela’s legacy as a pioneer of Afrobeat and a champion of African culture is undeniable. @romualdgram CEO notes, “We wanted to begin this new chapter of Rolling Stone’s journey into Africa with a cultural icon of past, present, and future, whose influence reached far corners and even went beyond just music."
And as a ‘voice of the people’, the symbolism of our ‘Icon Cover’ might hold even more significance in the hearts of our Nigerian audience today as they rally together for a united cause.
“Africans are everywhere, and there is no doubt that love for Africa extends beyond the continent and our neighborhoods,” says CTO @samuelpanda . “Our goal is to be the beacon that connects and celebrates the global African community.”
We look forward to shining an even brighter light on African ability, to put more of the artists, communities and voices that embody the African spirit—both big and small—on the global stage.
Join us as we embark on this new chapter. #RollingStoneAfrica 🤩
