Tuskegee is so much more than an institution; it embodies hope, history, and empowerment for countless individuals. As a board member who participated in yesterday’s joyous Centennial celebration—a testament to 100 years of homecoming—I am profoundly saddened by the pain that has unfolded, especially on a day meant for growth and unity. My thoughts and prayers are with our students, families, faculty, administration, and everyone impacted by this senseless act. The legacy of Tuskegee runs deep: the pride of our marching band, the heroism of the Tuskegee Airmen, and the connection to Booker T. Washington’s enduring vision. In this difficult time, let us come together, sending love, strength, and healing to all. We honor Tuskegee by keeping the heart of our community strong, like the steady drumbeat of our marching band, as we strive for peace and unity.
