3 months agoFirst day of the Milken Institute Asia Summit 2024.
My highlight was a post lunch talk focused on the Himalayan region.
Firstly a talk with Peter Hillary and Jamling Tenzing, sons of the first two men to ever summit Mount Everest, Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay 70 years ago.
One almost cannot imagine the impact on communities,
livelihoods, environment and cultural heritage in the face of burgeoning tourism, changing seasons, and climate change on Mount Everest. What an eye opening talk reminding us that legacies live on with a sense of responsibility that is passed through generations.
Secondly @asiaminute 's chat with Prime Minister of Bhutan his excellency Tshering Tobgay that completely convinced me that Bhutan should be ticked off the bucket list ASAP.
I loved how enthusiastic and eloquent the PM was explaining so intricately the changing of the seasons and the different beautiful and magical versions of Bhutan at anytime of the year. In Bhutan, the measure success is by Gross National Happiness!
Gained a fresh perspective learning of a nation that operates and governs with mindfulness, balance, spirituality and wellbeing as a priority.
Added a few selfies of Milken buddies π«Άπ» #friendship #fun #harmony
