7 months agoQuick way to boost dopamine…👇 Despite the thought of cleaning your home often being annoying. The feeling of finishing it is extremely satisfying in your brain. This is because of dopamine. Becoming a person that prioritises… 1. Making your bed 2. Keeping your kitchen clean 3. Keeping your workspace organised 4. Wiping down your bathroom … will lead to higher dopamine levels. Dopamine controls your motivation, so you will become far more motivated if you do this everyday. Does cleaning make you feel good? Let’s chat below 🙂 ℹ️ Research in this area I love👇 - What is the relationship between dopamine and effort? (Walton and Bouret, 2019). - The benefits of declutterring (Beckwith and Parkhurst, 2022). - Dopamine in motivational control: rewarding, aversive, and alerting (Broomberg-Martin et al., 2010.

4 months agoThe magical benefits of being bored👇 (from someone who HATES being bored)… Many of us almost fear feeling bored these days. We spend a minute or two in silence and all kinds of unwanted thoughts or worries can appear in our mind. Often it is much easier to just put your headphones in or pick up your phone to avoid the internal noise. As someone who struggled with this like crazy, particularly as I worry a lot, the benefits I’ve seen of letting my brain get bored are: 1. Surprisingly useful solutions to the worries or problems I have in my life 2. Far more creativity with my work 3. Far more reflective and grateful for my life and relationships 4. More happy thoughts seem to just appear in my mind 5. An increased ability to hear my gut feeling desires in life and take action on them These are not insignificant things. If anything much of my joy in life is now centred around making sure I have time in the quiet, getting bored, which sounds kinda weird but honestly it’s true. My favourite ways to ‘get bored’ are: 1. Sitting in the garden looking around 2. Going for a walk with no phone or headphones 3. Sitting on the sofa in a really comfy position 4. Sitting in a coffee shop with no phone or headphones If you actually read all this great work, tbh it probably means you definitely have the ability in you to get bored 😂. Let me know if you read it with a 🧠 below. I love seeing who really is investing in levelling up their lives like this. If you want to learn how to create a healthy relationship with your phone, comment the word ‘phone’ below. I’d love to hear your perspective on this one if you have any thoughts.
