Overall score: 8/10
Pros: This gastropub is located in Colony Square, right in the heart of Midtown! Holeman and Finch is an upscale bar setting that is welcoming to all. We were immediately served warm bread with tasty sweet honey butter as soon as we were seated! Service staff were helpful and friendly! You really can’t beat this location on a Saturday night!
Cons: Drink service was extremely slowed compared to everything else. And the menu is very small, I thought there could’ve been at least 3-5 more entree selections. Drinks and food were on the pricier end, but certainly not overwhelming. Overall I’d say worth it.
Drinks: Eugene’s Old Fashion
Score: 7.9/10
Really good old fashion that hit the spot. Not too sweet not too bitter. Certainly was enough alcohol in it 😂. Unfortunately the wait time for this drink tainted its experience a bit. But, definitely more than a “got the job done” drink.
Appetizer: Steak Tartare
Score: 8.9/10
This was probably the best thing I tasted all night. The raw steak was seasoned perfectly and the capers added a briny taste that complimented the dish perfectly. The raw egg was offset by some freshly chopped chives and black pepper. Mix it all together and get a scoop on a potato chip, and you won’t be disappointed. Dish was a bit small for a $18.
Entree: Fish & Chips
Score: 7.6/10
Nothing screams pub more than fish & chips. This was a really solid dish. Fish breading was super crunchy and delicious. Tartar sauce was pretty standard. The potato wedges and their curry sauce dip certainly headlined this meal. Unfortunately this dish was more chips than fish. But, I didn’t complain much about it because of how good the wedges were. You can’t go wrong with Holeman’s fish & chips. But, if I come back here. I would most likely go a different direction for my entree.
