3 months agoThe kodkod is the smallest wild cat in the Americas, weighing 2-3 kg (4.4-6.6 lbs) and measuring 37-51 cm (15-20 in) long. These elusive cats, also called 'guiña,' are native to Chile and parts of Argentina.
The images show kodkods in their usual coat and the rarer melanistic variant, caused by a genetic mutation. However, they face threats from habitat loss and competition with invasive predators.
