3 months agoThe kodkod is the smallest wild cat in the Americas, weighing 2-3 kg (4.4-6.6 lbs) and measuring 37-51 cm (15-20 in) long. These elusive cats, also called 'guiña,' are native to Chile and parts of Argentina. The images show kodkods in their usual coat and the rarer melanistic variant, caused by a genetic mutation. 9 months agoDuring the Arctic summer, polar bears can occasionally be seen amongst fields of fireweed, a vibrant purple flowering plant. Fireweed thrives in areas where sea ice retreats, which can sometimes overlap with the coastal hunting grounds of polar bears. That’s the delicate balance of the Arctic ecosystem. 🎥 @mywildlive
