2 months agoThe conception of the latest grand date mechanism, visible in this 3D rendering, for the Cubitus reference 5822 in platinum required the development of this new movement with six specific patent applications; notably relating to energy management for the various displays and their simultaneous 18-millisecond jumps. Among other things, these new innovations ensure perfect alignment of the grand date numerals. The six patent applications for the new movement are: Tangential brake, dual-lever correction system, flexible day corrector, cam winding wheel with dual-function spring, mechanism for positioning the disk indications, and a mechanism for a flexible blocking plate. #Cubitus #PatekPhilippe

2 months agoThe reference 5822 in platinum inaugurates the new Cubitus collection with an exclusive movement featuring a grand date with instantaneous jumps, as well as day and moon phase indications – all in a thin, square-shaped platinum case. The development of an all-new movement: caliber 240 PS CI J LU, a metamorphosis of the renowned caliber 240. To meet all these challenges required to combine all of the functions of the watch into an elegant case, Patek Philippe’s engineers developed new technical solutions leading them to file six specific patent applications. This refined contrast is enhanced by alternating polished and vertical satin-brushed finishes. 2 months agoThe new square case of the Cubitus model reference 5821/1 in steel, with its rounded corners, exudes a distinguished and elegantly slim style on the wrist. The horizontally embossed dial features a fine sunburst olive green color. The steel bracelet is equipped with a lockable adjustment system and a patented Patek Philippe fold-over clasp ensuring both comfort and security. At the heart of this new model beats self-winding 26-330 S C caliber – derived from 26-330 base caliber introduced in 2019 – featuring a stop-seconds device (enabling time-setting to the nearest second) and other technical innovations notably relating to the winding system.
