6 months agoThe importance of process and routine: “Having a process and routine gives me control over the things that I can control” Many goalkeepers enter penalty shootouts and allow the situation to control them. They are dictated to by the referee. They are dictated to by the forward. They allow the fear of being booked to guide their behaviours. The allow the occasion to guide their behaviours. In order to maximise performance as a goalkeeper during a shootout, YOU NEED TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE SITUATION. Control builds confidence. Confidence improves performance. In order to take control of situations, you need a PROCESS. It doesnt matter how many people you P**S off. It doesnt matter what people call you. You need to have a routine and STICK TO IT. Routines help access muscle memory, improve movement efficiency and improve performance under pressure. The next time you find yourself in a high-pressure situation, STICK TO YOUR PROCESS.
