6 months ago“When the women wear this jacket, I want them to feel their most powerful” – @samimiro Designer and former gymnast, Sami Miro, created the team jackets for the 2024 Women’s USA Gymnastics Olympic Trials. Inspired by her experiences and Nike, the Goddess of Victory, the jackets feature signature @samimirovintage open seam lines and leather details. This historic collaboration marks Nike and @USAGym’s first collaboration with a designer for bespoke jackets, gearing up this team for the world stage with style.

a year agoZero Waste has always been a through-line in my design process – finding beauty in scraps, what the vast majority would disregard as waste. My method of conscious reworking involves utilizing all parts of each garment to create an entirely new design. During our debut NYFW runway show S/S2024, and for the first time in history without practice, I wanted to showcase my style of design-by-reverse-engineering for a live audience as I transformed a pair of our couture trousers into and extended version of our signature Hi Low Skirt with a very long train. With this, I Illustrated in real time how one garment can be reimagined and given new purpose. 8 months agoTo the greatest mother ever. I miss you so much , you were such a light in this world of darkness. Some days I feel like I can’t do this without you, but then I realize the past 32 years you have inspired, nurtured, and groomed me to be who I am today. So I will never give up because you are with me everyday and I won’t disrespect all that you have taught me. You did so much for me and Kidada and I truly am grateful and honored that God blessed me with you. I will never forget you, I appreciate you coming to talk to me when I’m sleeping, it makes me want to sleep all day just so we can talk and laugh but you were a worker so you would wake my ass up lol. I love you, I miss you Donna Marie, I know you are walking with me. To the most caring, beautiful, powerful woman I have ever known. Happy Mother’s Day. Life without you is never going to be the same, but I will make sure to carry you with me everywhere I go! This shit is hard but I’ll be ok. She raised me to be strong, so I will continue to do that.
