a month agoWe just hit 1 Billion streams! Here’s the most important thing anyone looking to start a podcast / youtube channel / show, should know...
1) I started The Diary Of A CEO 7 years ago. For the first 3 years relatively nobody listened - in the last 2 years we gained 95%± of our subscribers and views, in the last 365 days we’ve gained 50%± of our total subscribers!
If you’re willing to feel embarrassed, to produce bad work, for nobody to listen and to not be paid to do something for years, you really will surprise yourself - the thing that kept me going despite this, was that I just absolutely loved the process.
And that’s really the key: loving the process. Not the results, but the act of showing up every single day, learning, improving, and creating something, even if no one else notices yet.
So, if you’re thinking of starting something, here’s a good question to ask:
“Would I do it even if nobody noticed and nobody paid me?”
If the answer is yes, then you should start!
Here’s the downside; It won’t always be easy - you will have to put in a lot of long, lonely hours. You will likely have to work around the clock because your platform is always on. You will have to accept that you will be attacked every day because interviewing a wide range of people from CEO’s to subject matter experts will cause huge disagreement - even the smartest most qualified people in the world don’t agree on everything- speech is polarising, science is ever-evolving and opinions are set in emotion!
None the less, if you love what you’re doing, if you’re working with talented people that you really like (Flight Studio), and if you believe what you’re doing is important, it’ll all be worth it.
Thank you to everyone that’s part of the DOAC community!
Our team are going to continue to fight hard to deliver for you! 👊🏾❤️
