I love My Dogs Pavones, Costa Rica🇨🇷 Tokyo Olympian CSUB🎓 🌱Sustainability #katydiaz4eva

4 years agoScoliosis Awareness Day💚 . Some things in life happen that make us have to pay more attention, fight harder, and sometimes even change our path. But we are fortunate to have the opportunity to do just that. Today is Scoliosis Awareness Day! As someone who’s just shy of 10 years from diagnosis, I wanted to spread the word of how helpful and important checking and diagnosing children early can be. It can help control the curves’ degrees from early stages and avoid threats on organs. On that note for all of you (and family)going through this battle I SEE YOU, I FEEL YOU, YOU GOT THIS! .

3 months agoBrazil, Olaf Heine⁣ teNeues Verlag, 2024⁣ Book curation by Anthony Vaccarello⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ In his newly revised photo book Brazil, photographer Olaf Heine explores the soul of Brazil through black-and-white images, capturing the country's sensuality, diversity, and melancholic beauty. Inspired by his meeting with architect Oscar Niemeyer, Heine contrasts the curves of Brazil's landscape and architecture with those of its people—surfers, dancers, and women. His work highlights the fluidity and constant flux of life, reflecting the modernist vision of a country once full of optimism and change. Brazil embodies "saudade," evoking Brazil's tropical beauty and vibrant culture without resorting to clichés.⁣ ⁣⁣ Available at Saint Laurent Babylone.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 9 rue de Grenelle, Paris⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Message for more information. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #YSL #SaintLaurentBabylone #SLRD #SLEditions #Brazil⁣⁣ @ysl⁣⁣⁣⁣ @anthonyvaccarello⁣ @teneuespublishing

Deep work. Do good. Change the world. *When in doubt, take the hardest path* Chicago —> St. Andrews 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 —> DC📍

7 months agoRest in peace, Jürgen Moltmann. This picture was my final interaction with him back in 2019 after a panel at @uniofstandrews discussing human suffering and divine remembrance. Completing my PhD years earlier at that same university on an interdisciplinary study of trauma, its inseparable influence on the three parts of human dynamics (body, brain, spirit), and how that influence frames our conception of reality, Professor Moltmann was kind enough to communicate with me both in-writing and in-person… something he didn’t need to do with a random PhD student interested in advancing a small portion of his thoughts in more interdisciplinary, scientific ways. I am grateful for Professor Moltmann’s role in helping expand and refine my thinking on the theological-front of suffering and divine/human remembrance; always positively encouraging me to think outside of the box and pushing me further into the neurocognitive and social psychological interplay with the memory of suffering. For being one of the foremost thinkers and highly-regarded theologians to ever live, he was ALWAYS open to dialogue and ALWAYS the first person to say he doesn’t have the FINAL answer. He rather looked at his work (and encouraged students all over to look at theirs) as a simple contribution to a broad field of study populated by extraordinarily intelligent people continually led by the Spirit in new ways. For many in his position of notoriety, he didn’t have to do any of that or be so open or kind. Saying we lost a giant is an understatement. His 98 years on this earth will definitely live on not only for the rest of this age, but the one to come.

7 months ago7 years ago today I re-entered US soil from my last month-long stint in ISIS-controlled Iraq. Before this trip, working in an active war zone was less about the fear of what would happen to me if an already precarious situation turned south, and more about my team’s diligent efforts to stabilize chaos in order to protect innocent humans. This picture shows my little miracle grabbing my beard immediately upon seeing me as I walked through the airport gates; literally pulling my beard so hard our faces would soon be smushed together in the most eternally bonded of ways… because I truly believe Baby Marin somehow knew Daddy was away trying to do some good for the world against ISIS, and Daddy made it home. This picture is my constant reminder that peace matters, and life should be fought for and preserved and honored no matter what horror evil brings. This picture will always be my heart, and I can’t thank @brendamarin1 enough for capturing one of the most special moments of my life as it happened on this unique day 7 years ago.
