6 months agoMy gifts have opened doors for me, I’ve only been comfortable walking through them when I can bring as many people with me as possible and create something new within. I know how to paint, and every now and then my ideas are cool. I sometimes find myself in the right place at the right time. I don't want to dismiss these things as small. But, I reached a point a while ago where I was able to stop and synthesize what scaling looks like. What does it mean to have enough? What does it mean to be a bigger artist ? What does it mean to demand more attention, more consideration in the minds of an invisible audience? What does it mean to make more money? To drive the prices up? “to look in the mirror and say, there I am…” to see yourself as a flower. All those versions of the other side of the scale felt in extreme contradiction to how this started for me. The goal wasn’t necessarily to become a flower. But grapple with the question, and imagine alternatives to the present. Interrogate The idea that all great art should be a hospital or a church. We created @eternalseeds with this question in mind. “What’s more important the flower or the soil that grew it?” This post has been archived since January because I didn’t know how to post it, I’m still at conflict about how we let people in to the work that we do, how amplifying this practice seems to be in contradiction to why I love this practice in the first place. The audience it requires are the people who find themselves walking through the door curious about the same questions that got us here. But to be clear this practice is for all who find the door. And the door has always been there. understand we are building something inside 2941royal street. Building something that is taking up most of my capacity at all times. Its a type of tunnel vision I’ve grown to love - the light at the end - a north star of sorts. We got work to do. and we will need your help. Stay tuned. This is when i’m just starting out, so nobody knows me. I was with Matthew Williams and Virgil Abloh. I was getting into it with the bouncers, and she came out. We just locked eyes. She didn’t even know us, but she was like, ‘Yo! why y’all not letting him in? What’s wrong with you?! Let that man in!’” “I knew from when we were younger she was the one. We both did, i think. 5 months agoWhat an honor, a blessing, and a privilege. I never want to take these moments for granted. In a week where my faith was tried, my peace wavered, and the weight of the world began to descend, God was beyond gracious. 🥹 It’s always hard preparing for one moment you may or may not get back. In my mind what kept repeating were the words “Trust in Jesus”. I didn’t know what the outcome would be, but I did know He was who I wanted to lead me through the journey. What an amazing journey it was! It never ceases to amaze me how powerful He is to help those who trust in Him overcome the battles within. His word is sufficient, His promises hold true, and all the glory belongs to Him. 🙏🏽🙌🏽❤️ At the end of the day it is FAR beyond gold. Once again, I am immensely grateful to have had the opportunity to represent my country on the world’s biggest stage.
