6 months agoPeople with a sensitive nervous system are more prone to experiencing burnout because they feel everything more intensely, and their response to stressors is heightened.
A sensitive nervous system processes things more deeply than others, leading the person to excel in creativity, leadership, and compassionate roles.
However, this comes at a cost: a sensitive nervous system is more prone to emotional and physical exhaustion.
Sensitive people typically struggle with perfectionism, problems establishing boundaries, and holding themselves to incredibly high standards.
You might be worried that you have to choose between your health and your passion.
Perhaps you think that the only way to avoid burnout is to give up your work, your passion, your desire to make a difference, and numb your sensitivity.
But what I’ve learned is that there’s a third way. You can avoid or reverse burnout while still remaining authentic to your passion, creativity, and sensitivity.
It’s not about not caring anymore or compromising your dreams. It’s about working to support your stress response so that you can handle the demands of your unique sensitivity and drive without compromising your health.
If you want to know if you have burnout, I have a FREE assessment that breaks down the components of nervous system dysregulation. Comment ‘QUIZ’ below and I’ll send you the link.
Rooting for you,
Dr. Linnea
