3 months agoKobe’s isolation game is different. He starts by sizing up his defender in the left corner with a quick double between the legs and then floats into another between the legs. Notice how on his last between the legs he takes a negative step backward and has his right hand over the ball to sell the shot as if he were going to pull up and shoot. This negative step allows Kobe to push off forcefully, giving him a more explosive step off the dribble. 3 months agoTake me back to when Jamal Crawford was playing because his game was beautiful to watch. He was so shifty, crafty, and elusive with the ball in his hand, and knew how to manipulate the defender with subtle movements. In this clip, he sized up his defender with a quick between-the-legs and then a float between changing speeds and levels. He then exploded downhill with his right hand, immediately snatched the ball with a behind-the-back, while using his off-hand to gently push the defender, which manipulated his momentum and had him flying. Crawford then paused for a second, looked at where the defender was, and raised his eyes and head at the rim as if he was going to shoot the ball, then quickly crossed the ball over to his right hand for the pull-up jumper.
