Firstly, I would like to thank all my amazing clients new and existing for being so patient… Following on from the governments announcements we have taken the decision to re-open. DermVet Leicester has sourced the correct cleaning systems and PPE are in place to protect ourselves and our clients and ensuring we adhere to guidelines. Some clients may have already had booked appointments before the Covid-19 lock down, so I will be catching up with you over the next couple of days to rearrange. 5 years agoDermvet will be offering video consultations due to the current COVID-19 situation. It is extremely difficult to provide the high-quality service for owners wanting expert advice and treatment for their pet’s skin or ear problems with the current government guidelines. Therefore, Dermvet will be providing video consultations to continue to be of great assistance to pet owners needing the services of a veterinary dermatologist. David will go through the process of a consult. David will look at your pet’s history and then pattern analysis of the skin condition. Considering the visual aspect of the dermatologist examination is still impossible, the specialist knowledge of the veterinary dermatologist can come up with a list of differential diagnoses and can offer the best chance of advising on the correct treatment going forward. Diagnosis can be confirmed through numerous ways. For example, with a case of otitis, David may ask you to send a swab from the ear canal using a cotton bud. This would then need to be placed into a small polythene bag to prevent it drying out. Once it reaches David, he will be able to check cytology to be sure what pathogens are inside the ear. Similarly, tape strips from the skin, using scotch tape, can also be sent to check the surface skin cytology which can help diagnose yeast infections. After the video consultation, he can either issue you with a prescription or if you are local or willing to travel to the clinic in Leicester, we can dispense the medication for you.
