4 months agoMy friend (and friend to many) Eric Raymond Gilliland passed away Sunday. He was kind. And gentle. And funny as hell. And incapable of holding a conversation that was cruel or tore someone down. It’s a tragedy he’s gone and a tragedy more people won’t have the chance to know him. I had Eric as a friend for 27 years. He was the first bigtime meeting I had at the start of my career. He’d finished working as a writer on ROSEANNE and had a swank bungalow office on the Fox lot in LA. I was nervous as hell to meet him. I’d gotten into my cups the night before and the hangover wasn’t helping. My head was pounding like crazy, but it was my stomach that worried me… I had those horrible little tell-tale burps. Badness was brewing. Eric wasn’t how I imagined a seriously successful comedy writer. He was so approachable. When he smiled, his nostrils flared and his eyelids lowered by half. Imagine Pixar, but Pixar is Eric’s face. It felt like I’d known him forever. And there are hundreds, if not thousands of bartenders, cashiers and shopkeepers in dozens of countries who feel the same. I traveled all over the world with Eric. He introduced me to Vaudeville and Jack Benny and welcomed me into his friend circle of impossibly talented writers and performers. He was my university. He helped me grow and find my voice. And he did all of it while finding himself. Eric never stopped becoming Eric. He eventually moved to NYC and found a new gear. He walked everywhere. He had Swedish Glug parties. He appreciated old, forgotten things. He loved soup. Jesus Christ, the man loved soup. Go to his twitter account for proof. When I walked out of that meeting at Fox all those years ago, I was hit with the undeniable urge to see him again. As soon as I’d finished violently throwing up in the rose bush outside his office, I popped back in and gave him my phone number. I also let him know I’d recently thrown up in the rose bush outside his office. This news seemed to please him. The rose bush died but Eric lived 27 more years.

5 months agoNearly a decade of getting to do this. 10 years ago, we would have gleefully taken these BONKERS 2nd weekend numbers as our opening weekend. The way #DeadpoolAndWolverine has captured the moment is hard to process. Feels a bit like it’s happening to someone else. Either way, making these movies has been more fun than anyone has a right to have. I can’t help but skip down memory lane a bit. There are way too many people who’ve made pivotal creative contributions to list, but obviously my long time co-writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (without whom there would be no Deadpool movie) Tim Miller, Mr David Leitch (who also made Fall Guy — one of the best of the summer films), 20th Century Fox, George Dewey and Kevin Feige. Last on the list but first in my heart: my creative, spiritual (and damn near literal) brothers, Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman. This has always been a game of inches and the relentlessness we hit this movie with (particularly in post production which is another phase of the writing process) is something I’ll never forget. Thank you to every single person who showed up for this film. Thank you to everyone seeing it multiple times, making friends with new characters and tipping our hats to some familiar faces we love from the past. What a damn thrill this has been. ❤️⚔️❤️

10 months agoHello, everytime we do our #toytonicsjam at Berghain its one of the rare moments when a lot of our artists & crew comes together. Lets use the opportunity to tell who we are 🙂 1) @cody_currie : DJ, singer & producer from London living in Berlin. Did 1 album and several EPs with TT - since 6 years with our crew. 2) @a.tari2600 : Berlin based friend. Works at the TT Jams & does customized clothes and pics 3) @max.nrg.supply : He (and Manuel Kim who is missing in the pic) are our label managers. The most important members of the crew! Doing the work in the back. Music releases, office stuff, distribution, event organisation (with Alberto Mombelli - missing in the pic). Max is a music collectior and superb DJ. 4) @michael__ullrich : Berlin based photografer, painter, graphic designer. Makes photos , artworks and videos for Toy Tonics. He does our art direction with Kapote, @paso_kartsolis & @m.i.r.u.e.l (not in the pic). Before Michael joined our label he was the assistent of photografer Jürgen Teller. 5) @_gee_lane : Amazing Venezolean DJ, Producer and music (and fashion) afficionado. She released 1 EP and is lead part of our DJ krew.More releases soon! 6) @barbara_boeing :Brasilian DJ and vinyl digger. Based in Milan. She released her debut EP (co-produced by Sam Ruffillo) and is part of our DJ krew. 7) Robin of @athletewhippet : Berlin based extreme talented DJ, keyboarder, guitarist & producer. Besides djing at our jams he produced 3 EPs and works at our label office. 8) @samruffillo : Italian superproducer, keyboarder & DJ with big knowledge of music. He did 3 EPs and will release debut album soon. Works a lot with Kapote (they will release an EP together soon) 9) @kapote_toytonics aka Mathias Modica: Founder, music producer and creative mind behind Toy Tonics. Before Toy Tonics he was doing music as MUNK and did the label #gommarecords where he produced and released music with Peaches, James Murphy, The Rammellzee, WhoMadeWho a.o. Missing: a lot of TT artists + Lilli & Yannik who also work at the TT headquarters and many more lovely people of TT💟

Was Christoph Kramer sportlich leider nie vergönnt war, gelingt ihm jetzt mit seinem eigenen Wein🏆 Kaum zu übersehen: Chris ist mächtig stolz auf den ersten Jahrgang und erkennt die Qualität schon am Geruch. Neben den Spitzen-Winzern @weingutphilippkuhn und @kuehlingandbattenfeld ist nun also ein echter Weltmeister das dritte Mitglied im Team Herbstmeister! Zwei fehlen allerdings noch… Also: @herbstmeister_wein folgen & nichts verpassen!

3 months agoNike x Vitra - Klingt erstmal nach einer Kollaboration aus der Kategorie bitte nicht und könnte sich einreihen bei Balenciaga x Fortnite oder jeder Evian Collabo jemals - warum braucht Wasser überhaupt einen hippen Partner? Bevor das hier wieder in einen Boomer-Rant ausartet, löse ich lieber schnell auf. Seit letztem Samstag zeigt das Vitra Design Museum eine große Ausstellung, die sich mit nichts anderem als der Marke Nike auseinandersetzt. Vitra durfte sich dafür durch das bisher nur firmenintern genutzte Archiv wühlen und eine Ausstellung auf die Beine stellen, die sich sehen lassen kann. Wie der Name @vitra schon erahnen lässt, steht Gestaltung und Ästhetik im Vordergrund. Die Ausstellung läuft noch bis Mai nächsten Jahres und wird Weil am Rhein vermutlich mehr Pandas bescheren als jedem chinesischen Zoo.

3 months agoMore Life Vice. Es ist gar nicht so lange her, da habe ich gegoogelt, wo in München es die letzte Printausgabe der @vice geben wird. Schnell hin und zwei Ausgaben eingepackt. Schließlich war die VICE über Jahre das Coolste seit der Bravo Screenfun. Lange Reportagen über von der Croco-Droge leer gefegte Häuserblöcke in Russland oder Nordkorea und Berichte von Pilzkuren in Thailand. Die Vice war ein Print gewordener Rausch, der 2023 in einer Insolvenz endete. Jetzt wurden die letzten Koksreste aus den Tastaturen geschüttelt und das US-Mutterschiff wagt mit einem neuen Print-Abo den gesunden Schritt zurück. Wir hoffen, dass die neue alte VICE auch den Weg zurück nach Deutschland schafft und campen sicherheitshalber mal vor jedem Bahnhofskiosk.

4 months agoUn emozione incredibile,non riesco ancora a credere a quanto sia successo e sopratutto che sia successo proprio a me. Sono davvero contenta perché quello che cerco di dimostrare all’interno di quel rettangolo verde è arrivato a davvero tanta gente e questo per me significa tanto! È vero che è un premio individuale ma senza le mie compagne, lo staff ,la società e le persone che quotidianamente mi stanno accanto, non sarei mai riuscita a raggiungere! 4 months agoMeine 1. Ausstellung! vom 13.9. bis 11.10, in der @hoto_gallery (x - berg), im Kollektiv - mit den KünstlerInnen @johannaberghorn und @bergstrvm . Unterstützt von der Leica Camera AG. (- Und mein Herz klopft doll vor Freude und Aufregung, während ich das hier tippe). Die Vision für „RUN WITHOUT A SOUND“ entsprang aus meiner Arbeit als Botschafterin für die humanitäre Organisation Plan International und meiner Liebe für die Fotografie. Zusammen mit der Menschenrechtsexpertin Waleria Schüle, die nebenbei auch meine Schwester ist, haben wir die fotografische Reise konzipiert. Dokumentiert haben wir drei Projekte, die sich dem Empowerment von Kindern und Jugendlichen widmen. Ihr Erfolg bezeugt die transformative und stärkende Kraft von Kunst und Gemeinschaft. Die Fotografien geben Einblicke in das Leben von TänzerInnen des Friedensprojekts „school of the body“, dessen Gründer Alvaro modernen Tanz und soziale Gerechtigkeit vereint - von Mädchen in Medellin, die durch Menstruationsmärchen eine positive Beziehung zu den Veränderungen ihres Körpers aufbauen - und von Jugendlichen aus den Projektgebieten von Plan International sowie venezolanischen Geflüchteten.
