a month agoProject of the Week: Vaazh House, designed by @Vy_Architecture_Studio, is located in a Tamil neighborhood in #India, where the thinnai—a raised, covered veranda—acts as a communal gathering space. The house is arranged in a linear layout, connecting shared spaces like the thinnai, living room, and courtyard to private areas such as the kitchen and bedrooms.
At the center of the house is a courtyard with a curved wall that blocks harsh sunlight from the west and extends upward to form an open rooftop. This design element adds both function and playfulness, creating a space where residents can enjoy the sun or stargaze. The wall’s perforations allow light and rain to interact with the courtyard, adding to its natural charm.
With river rocks and open spaces, the house encourages a close connection to nature, making it a haven for people, birds, and animals. Vaazh House embraces the Indian climate and promotes a simple, harmonious way of living. 📸: @syam.photographer #architectanddesign
